We are seeking an enthusiastic Customer Service & Operations Specialist for our cutting edge health and performance center. This is a rare, ground floor opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an impressive team of professionals who are leaders in their industry.
This is an excellent chance for someone who is interested in breaking into the Health/Fitness industry to learn the ropes from our world-class fitness professionals. The Center, 8,000+ square foot facility located in Rye, New York, will be serving a higher demographic clientele.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will assist the Director of Operations by providing administrative support, etc. for daily operations. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Presenting a first and last impression on our clients. This position will meet and greet clients and visitors to the center with a positive attitude. Client recognition will be a goal.
- Receive, screen and direct incoming calls.
- The ability to handle multiple lines and a moderate volume.
- Receive & process daily mail, FedEx, etc.
- The ability and aptitude to manage the appointment/reservation system.
- Track and maintain client usage programs.
- Assist in the management of the Front Desk Operations.
- Perform minor accounting functions as directed.
- Assist management in daily tasks as needed.
- Performs daily walk through to ensure quality presentation of center with special attention paid to the front desk, administrative office and lobby area.
- Special projects and miscellaneous office duties as assigned.
- Assist ALTHEUS Team members with their daily projects
BACKGROUND
The successful candidate should possess/demonstrate the following:
- 2+ years reception and administrative experience in an office environment.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (specifically Word & Excel)
- Previous customer service experience a plus.
- Professionalism with long-term goals - desire to be part of a building process.
- Excellent time management & organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, establish priorities and multitask.
- Excellent people and communication skills required.
- The ability to work within a team environment.

Endurance Training Coach (Full and Part Time Positions Available)
ABOUT ALTHEUS
- Altheus, a 8,000+ square foot facility that opened in the fall of 2002, is looking for experienced professionals to serve as Coaches in implementing comprehensive health and performance programs for people of all ages. The programs will be developed and implemented in concert with the President of the Center, Dr. Tom Crawford. Dr. Crawford served as the Director of Coaching for the US Olympic Committee for almost 10 years, where he led the development and management of programs for over 45 Olympic and Pan American sports. Dr. Crawford also served as Senior Director for the National Institute for Fitness and Sport, where he helped lead the research, development and management of programs for the complete continuum of human development, from pre-school aged children to professional athletes and executives. The endurance coaching will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Michael McMahon, Director of Endurance Sports at Altheus, and internationally renowned endurance coach. Dr. McMahon has coached the full spectrum of endurance athletes from Olympic athletes, including a gold medalist, to health-oriented beginners. He competed very successfully as a professional triathlete himself. Dr. McMahon completed his doctoral research (Respiratory Muscle Endurance Training) in the Exercise Physiology Department at the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. In 2003, he received his Ph.D. (Biomedical Sciences (Physiology)) from the University of Hawaii. As an exercise physiologist and coach, Dr. McMahon draws upon his unique combination of experiences as a former professional triathlete with a doctorate in physiology, and 15 years coaching athletes of all abilities including successful Olympians, to help everyone he works with achieve their goals.
POSITION
- Endurance Training Coach for a cutting edge health and human performance Center, ALTHEUS in Rye, New York.
AS A COACH YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Conducting and managing both initial and ongoing assessment of the client's baseline health/fitness performance levels, personal objectives and monitoring progress made toward those objectives;
- Participating in establishing a periodized program, in concert with a team of professionals to meet client objectives;
- Conducting programs in a very customized and high service level model;
- Assessing progress, and making recommendations related to program development across a variety of disciplines where appropriate, including physiology, overall conditioning, nutrition, sports psychology, massage and physical therapy;
- Conducting clinics and seminars for larger groups.
BACKGROUND
The successful candidate should possess/demonstrate the following:
- Masters degree in exercise physiology or exercise science;
- Current certifications, such as ACSM, CSCC, NASM, CPR, and/or other relevant certification/training;
- Prior experience evaluating, designing and building endurance training programs;
- The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of relevant experience in some or all of the following: VO2 max testing, lactates, nutrition, overtraining, running and swimming analysis, biomechanical cycling analysis, and bicycle fitting for performance;
- Computer literate and the aptitude to learn new technology (highly desirable);
- Professionalism with long-term goals n~ desire to be part of a building process;
- Excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and establish priorities;
- Excellent people and communication skills required;
- The ability to work within a team environment and open to adopting a non-traditional model;
- The desire to establish and maintain a high level of quality and customer service, well above the industry norm;
- Prior experience working with higher end demographic clients and serious endurance athletes desirable.
- Experience with all ages, including youth and seniors (highly desirable).
- Verifiable references.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends; on-call status when necessary.

POSITION
- We are seeking a full time Certified Athletic Trainer/Health & Performance Coach. This position will have dual responsibility between ALTHEUS and a local area high school.
AS A CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- An average of 20-25 hours a week at a local area high school providing athletic training services;
- Conducting sports excellence programs, clinics and seminars for larger groups;
- Assist in the development and marketing of programs and services offered by our community athletic programs division;

- Bachelors in either Athletic Training/exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology or related area required, (Masters Degree preferred).
- Current certifications, such as NATA, NSCA, ACSM, NASM, CPR, and/or other relevant certification training.
- Computer literate and the aptitude to learn new technology (highly desirable).
- The ideal candidate will possess 3+ years of relevant experience with 2 or more of the following: VO2 max testing, lactates, supplementation, over training, and "periodized" planning, working with special populations, e.g., overweight/obese, diabetes, arthritis, etc. Please Note: strong academic background and excellent references will also be considered.
- Prior experience working with college level/professional sports teams, training professional athletes and/or higher end demographic clients desirable.
- Experience with all ages, including youth and seniors (highly desirable).
- The ability to provide sample programs/plans developed - success stories.
- Verifiable references.
