Why Diet Is Essential

Food is the fuel for the machine that is your body. Eating far fewer calories than your body needs will decrease your metabolic rate and make it less likely that fat loss will occur. The most effective way to achieve fat loss is an exercise program coupled with a modest reduction in calorie intake.

Why Exercise Is Essential

Not only does exercise burn calories, but it helps boost the metabolic rate as well. An increased level of fitness means that our bodies use more fat for fuel. The result is improved body composition, as well as a stronger metabolism, heart, muscles and bones, and healthy blood levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, and sugar.
 

ALTHEUS Nutrition Programs

• The Weight Management Program is a 12-week nutrition and exercise program that addresses your eating behaviors, lifestyle and schedule.

Fuel for Training provides an accurate, sport-specific assessment of your nutritional needs during training and competition, and delivers nutritional guidance to help you meet those needs.

Medical Nutrition Therapy offers individualized food plans and nutrition education to help you lower elevated blood cholesterol, blood sugar, or blood pressure. Preventive

programs help control risk factors for heart disease, cancer, osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Resting Metabolic Rate Assessment: Recent technology has taken resting metabolic rate assessment (RMR) out of the laboratory and into the fitness center. Now you can learn how many calories your body uses. This is great news for anyone who struggles with their weight and wonders if their metabolism is to blame.

• The Disordered Eating Program teaches clients how to balance fuel needs and normalize their relationship with food. It is designed to prevent medical consequences of eating disorders and help clients lead overall healthier lives.

• Our Kids & Teens programs span a full range of options, from competitive athletics to weight management and injury recovery. We mix motivation, education and fun to instill healthy nutrition and fitness habits that will last a lifetime.

 

All ALTHEUS Nutrition Programs Include:

• Complete dietary analysis, body composition measurement, and assessment of nutritional needs

• Physiological testing to evaluate your energy (calorie) needs

• An exercise prescription designed to elicit the maximum amount of fat loss with the minimum loss of lean tissue

• Ongoing nutrition counseling and behavior modification

• One-on-one sessions with our nutritionist
